Will my payment cards work?

Astana is very card-friendly. Kazakhstan has unusually high card and mobile payment use, and Visa and Mastercard are accepted in shops, cafes and taxis. Carry some tenge for small vendors and tips. Two practical warnings: Kazakh banks sometimes decline cards issued in certain countries for compliance reasons, so travel with a backup card from a different issuer, and tell your bank you're travelling before you fly.
