Yes. Any community of a few hundred people forms groups, and shared language or nationality is the most common dividing line, along with shared work. That's normal, and it's easy to get around, because the calendar of shared activities gives you a reason to mix. If you arrive alone and wait to be adopted, it'll be slower going than if you host something in your first week.
