Do I need an invitation for a Kazakhstan e-visa?

If your nationality isn't covered by visa-free entry, Kazakhstan issues electronic visas in several categories. The catch that surprises people is that a tourist e-visa can require an invitation from a licensed Kazakh tour operator. That's an extra step and an extra cost on top of the online form. Don't assume you can sort an e-visa the week before you fly. Start early and check the current requirements for your category with the MFA.
